Air! I talk about a water hose pouring out water. If I put my thumb over part of the hole then the water would go faster and farther. (It all boils down to the air pressure built up and just releasing that).
Okay, I could really use some tips from horn players! I have about three players in my beginner class who STRUGGLE with playing trigger C and above. We do lips slurs and mouthpiece work in class daily and talk often about how our aperture should change going higher. We do flow studies/range expansions, and we have worked all the way down to trigger F (they do okay on that)
Are there any specific tips or phrases that you might use to help them? Half of my class plays effortlessly, and the other three just continue to struggle.
