Once I get home, it's time to make dinner, help my kiddo with her homework, and get her to bed. My wife is also a teacher so it's hit or miss which one of us will be home when, but we manage to get it done most of the time. Aside from running dishes and laundry, most of the home chores get pushed to the weekends.
Once the kid's down I might have a little time to hang out with my wife, maybe watch some TV. Hulu and Prime are great, we don't have to set an appointment to watch a show, we can watch on whatever day we have the time. We try to at least one night a week have a couple of hours to have grown-up conversation without the kid around.
If I really have some extra time, I might play some piano or guitar. Saxophone would wake up the kid, but I can turn the keyboard or guitar amp way down. I'm also in the middle of a really good book.
If there are errands to run, I try to get them done on my conference period during the day. I'm luck to have a schedule that allows for that.
I'm in bed early so I can get up early and go run. I'd rather be a night owl, but it's the only way I make everything happen during the day.
It's not a glamorous lifestyle, but I'm content.
