Re: Asking for a raise
Start with the HD, he/she may have a better understanding of how the admin works in your school, and what to say so that you do not offend. Then follow the chain of command, do not skip any steps. Good luck, I hope you get more compensation for the hard work you are putting in.
As a young band director, I have a hard time asking for what I need.
Veteran band directors, how would you ask for a raise? I'll be finishing up my 3rd year as a HS Asst. band director. I have helped change the culture in the program in both marching and concert band. I've had the highest ratings consecutively in concert and sight reading with my NV and SNV bands compared to my coworkers. There has been a tremendous amount of change in this program since I've been here, paired with a tremendous amount of stress!
I would love to stay here but I live month to month (school loans suck!). I also don't want to sound cocky or spoiled when asking for more money.
Who should I talk to? Head band director or straight to my fine arts director?
