Re: Directors Choice “March”
I have a system. For HS, it is 4 years and cycles like this: “Pasodoble, King/Sousa/Fillmore, British/European, American non-King/Sousa/Fillmore”. Sometimes I’ll throw a concert march in place of a utility march, but I try to make sure every kid plays each style before they graduate. I do non-traditional at my other two concerts each year. They need broad exposure to various musics, but I don’t push my luck at UIL. I want to give them every opportunity for success.
Wanting some clarification on this part of what we do. We have the obvious marches, then the movement marches, Spanish marches, then fanfares....is there any line on what is not acceptable for this UIL selection? Thinking about a fanfare (not on the pml).
Thanks for your help!
