On an interesting side note, my grandfather's soprano clarinet *does* have a low E-flat key. It's at least 110 years old by now.
Interesting. I've never seen a bass clarinet without one. Even ones from the 60s.
Make sure your bass clarinet has that key on it. Many older models donít and I donít believe Iíve ever seen one at a middle school.
The first answer is correct. Itís the key on the bottom row on the right hand, lowest down in laymanís terms. They will still need to use their pinky on the left. Itís a stretch for a kid with small hands.
