Re: Two conductors at uil
3 directors at my school. All 3 are very involved with the bands, especially the non-varsity band. At contest, each director conducts a song that they have rehearsed with the band. One of the directors will then do the sight-reading. This has worked and gives the students the experience of 3 different directors giving the same information in slightly different ways. We have to coordinate but it works for us. Just make sure all directors are listed on the contest forms.
At my campus itís just me and my assistant and there is only one band.. We have discussed the idea of the head director conducting two pieces and the assistant conducts one piece. For those have judged uil, thoughts? Is this a strange practice? I feel since we both have been working hard on our uil program we both should deserve the podium time.
