I doubt the getting "hammered" was about the march or title. I'm betting it was more about the performance. If a judge commented on the piece itself, it may have been in reference to whether or not the band had the instrumentation or ability to handle the piece. As far as what you pick to program, if the march is not a real march, your executive secretary will make that call, not the judge. The contest chairman or exec. sec. will DQ you for not following the programming rules if this is the case.

they are there to judge performance, not program selection. Who cares if its "non traditional" if they play it well.
