Re: Two conductors at uil
I've done this many times in my career. At one school, we had 3 directors and 2 bands that went to contest. One of the directors did a piece with the varsity band and a piece with the non-varsity band. In this scenario, each director was responsible for preparing 2 pieces for contest.
At another school, we had 2 directors and 3 bands. I did 2 pieces with the sub-NV and the other director did 1 on stage and the sightreading piece.
At my campus itís just me and my assistant and there is only one band.. We have discussed the idea of the head director conducting two pieces and the assistant conducts one piece. For those have judged uil, thoughts? Is this a strange practice? I feel since we both have been working hard on our uil program we both should deserve the podium time.
