I'd suggest hobnobbing at TMEA. Talk to other directors, especially veteran teachers who might be able to give you tips on how to handle the rest of the year and maybe districts you should consider applying to. Don't focus on things going wrong now, but share your strengths and what you want to bring to a new program. Be fresh, friendly, and outgoing. Smile, laugh, tell jokes. Don't let directors from prospective programs see an Eeyore; show them a person they would be happy to hire or recommend/suggest to others who are going to have positions open this summer.
This advice is coming from an introverted overthinker who generally avoids crowds and abhors introducing himself to new people, from someone who has been in similar situations.
