Celebrate small victories. It'll never ever be perfect or exactly we want. I once read on here some very wise words: no one cares as much about the band than you do. At the end of the day, most students see band as just another class. That doesn't mean they don't enjoy it, just that it's not a priority in their life.
For me, keeping my head down and focusing on the students helps to keep me balanced. I do what I can with what I have and work my tail off. I get great satisfaction out of knowing I've done everything I can to make the band sound as good as they can. My group doesn't even get close to one of the honor bands, but we are getting better.
How do you remain positive when it seems everything is going wrong? I really envy those people that seem to take everything in stride and understand that you can't control everything....I don't have that ability.
My work situation is rough, school is rough, administration doesn't care and my coworkers are certainly not my favorite people.
I would love to come to work one day and just feel at peace. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
