I read your earlier response. It seemed to imply that anyone who does not like AVID is a bad or ineffective teacher. Even if you didn't mean it this way, that's how it came off. Personally, I have never been in an AVID school. I just pointed out that all the things you said that AVID can accomplish with SES kids, we are already doing without AVID. My take is, we have way too many programs, acronyms, etc. and not enough good old-fashioned teaching and discipline. I like my school because all the administrators are old school and no nonsense. We are fortunate that the school board is the same way. The only thing that I don't like is the location in the state. But, each time I think about moving I wind up stopping and thinking that it will be very unlikely that I will ever be anywhere with this good of an administration. Maybe after these guys leave, I'll move on. Because their replacements will likely be a bunch of typical resume builders who will force a bunch of new programs down the throats of the teachers whether or not they work or are needed.
