I'm getting on in years and my long term memory is a little iffy, but i vaguely remember that in old notation, bass clef horn you play it up an octave, not knowing the piece you are referring to or the composer i don't know if you are dealing with old or new notation. if it is new notation and to be played where notated, you must play it on the f side of the horn. obviously that low in the horn range you need a more relaxed embouchure. I recommend having your student work down to that note chromatically until it becomes secure. For non horn playing directors I always recommend getting a copy of the Farkas book, "The Art of French Horn Playing".
French Horn masters, we have a student that is playing a solo in which she needs to play down to a Bass Clef Ab at bottom of staff. Please provide suggestions on helping her get that low.
