Re: UIL Grade 2 with challenging instrumentation
You need to do some rewriting if this is all you have. My advice is if you have to do a grade 2 for UIL - donít go. Work on building the program and confidence of the individual players.
If you donít have a choice - rewrite as much as you can get away with. Unify the trumpet and clarinet parts at times. You have no middle voices other than what the clarinet can do.
Any suggestion on an easy Grade 2 piece with the following instrumentation
2 Flutes (only one plays)
1 Clarinet (weak)
3 trumpet (2 ok, 1 weak)
1 Trombone (good)
2 baritones ( 1 strongest player, 1 does not play)
1 tuba (ok)
4 percussion (1st years)
Best I can come up with is Shepherds Hey, but is has the exposed clarinet at the beginning. My only clarinet players does not play if it's a 'solo' part.
Thanks in advance.
