For some reason, it has almost become and understanding that instruments sometimes are built out of tune. If it is a main reputable manufacture, more than likely there is another issue, however, anything is possible! Another misunderstanding is how far a tuning slide is pulled; there are a particular length for that particular instrument so if one student needs to pull a bit further than another, so be it, he is in tune. Last, an idea to consider and am a testimonial witness...most of us discount the value of the stock mpce. I have witnessed and experienced how the very best mpce and best model of instrument may not dance well together; try the stock mpce it may help. Good Luck!
What are some rules of thumb for tuning slide/headjoint/barrel/mouthpiece placement?
We have been trying to tune via air support/embouchure etc. but what about to instrument itself?
