Re: HD missing a day to work at other job
Not sure but local policy may dictate the rules regarding compensation. I worked for a district that did not allow you to make money from another source even if you took a personal day to do it. When I was asked to be a clinician once, the district did not want to pay me for that day (Friday) because I was getting paid by someone else. Or they wanted me to give them the clinician check for Friday. I had to explain that I was really representing the school district in a positive way and it would benefit them as well. They finally let me go and let me keep my money.
As far as jury duty goes, my district made me give them the money I received. Their argument was that the district pays you to be out so you shouldnít receive compensation from someone else. My wifeís school district did the same thing.
My current district doesnít make a big deal about me judging, but then again I donít tell them Iím taking the day off to judge, so.... and I still have to turn in jury duty compensation. So Iím guessing it could be a local policy... the jury duty part is in our teacher handbook.
HD at my school will be missing school next week to spend day at other job...thoughts?
