Re: HD missing a day to work at other job
We used to have coaches and teachers drive for us when we couldn't get drivers, (certain times drivers had to be running routes). In those cases, the teacher would take a "personal day" so that they could also get paid for their drive time. This was district policy. So yes, if you are taking a day off you can in fact earn money from another source.
The key point here is that he is taking a day to work at his other job. You cannot work another job and get paid if you are getting paid by the school district. That is illegal. You can work a summer job if your contract is done, but you can't receive compensation from another entity even if you take a day. you are still getting paid by the district. They won't even allow you to keep the jury duty compensation. We all deserve to take personal days whenever we want. But not to make money somewhere else.
HD at my school will be missing school next week to spend day at other job...thoughts?
