Re: HD missing a day to work at other job
I could run a marching rehearsal by myself with more than that. I could babysit a classroom if they were working on S/E with that many students. I could even have one group work in practice rooms, (brass or woodwind or complete other ensemble), while I ran a rehearsal with another ensemble. It isn't that tough. Unless these kids are beginners you should be fine. And if you have the facilities to have 150 kids rehearsing in two different rooms you probably have the room to split them up, give them a task, and keep the education moving forward.
I agree to an extent but, you actually don't know how long this person has been in teaching. You are assuming it is someone early in their career. They could be late in their career. Another point. You don't know how large the band classes are, either. What if one band is split into two bands but now they have to be together with 120 total kids at once with two different sets of music? What if other classes are split between woodwind and brass and now have to be combined giving a total of 150? I say this because I was placed in the same situation before I retired years ago. And this happened not once, not twice, but four times in one semester. I handled it fine, but my point is, don't assume.
