Re: HD missing a day to work at other job
And if he is using personal days it doesn't matter how many days you end up teaching their load. If they have the time available there is nothing that can be done short of district policy on how many days they can use.
The only complaint that is valid is if they are not taking time off and are having the assistant "cover" for them. Then you have a complaint. Otherwise, get over yourself and get to work.
I’ve taught whole weeks solo so my HD could go take care of life, be it working on the job that will follow their hand career, hunting bears in Pennsylvania, dealing with lawyers, or whatever. The school cannot legally pry into their business if they have the days and a sub is available, and God knows that this gig doesn’t pay enough to merit absolute, blind, self-sacrificing obedience and loyalty.
I would leave it alone and just do the job. If it gets to where you’re teaching their load more than they are, talk to them first. You’d want an issue addressed with you before it is addressed with your boss; have that same courtesy.
