I've either had parents do this or just done it myself at every HS I've been at. Not only is it cheaper, but they take up a lot less space and are easier to store because you just fold them up and they can lay on top of each other in storage until you need them.
Buy two pieces of 1/4" thick 12x36 inch acrylic. Home Depot sells them for $35 apiece. Drill holes (CAREFULLY) with a small drill bit and install hinges in the center. Bam. Movable, foldable horn shells for 75 bucks, as opposed to the $292 + shipping that they cost from Wenger.
If you know someone who can do heat bending, you can buy the larger sheets and not do the drill thing, but those cost more than twice as much and most people don't know how.
I need some horn shield/reflector things. Good horn players, but having trouble cutting through the ensemble. Recommendations?
