Re: overplayed UIL??
...when the committee removes a piece because it is "overplayed", they are really saying this:
"We are taking 'Piece X' off the list. Why? Because I'm a big time 6A director, my 6th Graders can sight-read this, therefore it's too easy...and the fact that 6000 bands played it last year is proof of how easy it is."
So we are having pieces removed because they are good lit and work well for a on of bands? Seems backwards to me.
I agree, but you are addressing the wrong folks. "Overplayed" is an expressed reason by the committee for removing pieces.
I'm on the active list. I don't care how many times or how many bands per contest play the same piece. You are not there to entertain me. You are there to present the best in your band and get an evaluation from me. It is silly to say something is "overplayed."
