Re: overplayed UIL??
Encanto? It got pulled because nobody could get the very first chord
in tune, or a clean entrance on it, and got butchered by the judges because of it.
Because it was overplayed, repetitive, and it got to the point where judges couldn't go to a UIL contest without hearing multiple bands performing it. Seriously, it was that widespread.
The piece was published in 2010. It likely wasn't submitted to the PML as a manuscript, so I'll assume it was added to the PML in 2011 for the 2012 CSR season, but I'm not sure here.
It lasted on the PML until the 2017-18 school year. According to Brynnpark, it was played 610 times in the six (or seven) years it was on the PML. That's .. excessive. When a piece gets that degree of oversaturation, it tends to get pulled. See: Encanto by RW Smith.
