Tuning, tone, everything! You can always close the holes with plugs. You can't ever open them without buying a new flute.
Talk to literally ANY flute player. Open holes are absolutely the right way to go.
We provide all of the instruments for our students in grades 5-12.
Is there any advantage to getting an open hole flute vs a closed hole flute for a 2A band?
I do not think any literature we play will require the use of an open hole flute.
