I just finished year 34 and I have never been in a program where Yamahas were an issue getting repaired. Of course, my early years were in the greater Houston area. I do not recall that Yamaha ever had issues.
A true concern, but I remember when repair shops refused to work on Yamaha instrument because of parts and quality concerns. So its a shot in the dark
"My only concern is parts for the long term- new brand will they be around in 5 years?"
That is a valid concern. I understand the need to have instruments for your students, but is it worth it to buy an unknown, untested brand vs a trusted and tested brand just to save a few dollars and then maybe have to buy new replacement instruments in a few years because parts are not available for the cheaper instruments you bought.
