It's not that I cannot take criticism from posters from time-to-time...I can. As I hope you all realize, in running this board, I've gained quite a bit of perspective and experience. That is why I can tell you, not everything is always as it seems. And because this is and will always be an anonymous board, sometimes people can post here pretending to be something they are not.
And yet...I still feel like I have a special responsibility to watch out for that person. I don't know what they are going through in their life, and you don't either. Which is why I'm saying, I would rather you all "let Steve handle it." Also, I just really hate to be a topic of discussion on my own board, ya know? C'mon man!!
It's easy to find negativity in this career we've chosen, and in life, in all our relationships...in everything we do. It's just as easy to be "positivity junkies." Whether positive or negative, right or wrong, smart, successful efficient, quality, award-winning...whatever...what's important to me, and what guides me are the qualities of sharing and learning. If you're generously giving your gift of time, experience, knowledge and advice to those who ask, I promise we should just accept it graciously and not care how it comes wrapped.
I did want to say how much I appreciate those of you who are always there to come to my defense and the board too. I'm an old, ugly, bald, tough guy with no dog in the fight, just a dog I walk. I've run this board for 20 years now as a real band director who loves the title, and I'll probably stick around for another 20.
