I was discussing this line of instruments with a well-respected, unnamed college band director. He said he had done a clinic at an unnamed high school and was having a heck of a time trying to get the tubas to play in tune. He had them all go down the row to tune and they were untunable. The whole section was playing on Orion tubas. Thatís unacceptable in my book.
Yes, Mr. Henry may have parts for them but most of your local music stores refuse to work on them. Another strike.
Every real horn player I know that has played on their French horns canít stand them. Theyíre stuffy and again, untunable.
You get what you pay for, IMO and I do not think any of these instruments are a good value for tax payers money.
We are looking to replace several of our MS tubas, and one of the music stores we work with is pushing Orion instruments as an affordable, quality option.
