Re: Thanksgiving Games
As others said, mandatory but pretty easy on excuses. If you are in town, you are expected to be there. As the Thanksgiving weekend game is usually in DFW, if you are in DFW, meet us at the game. We are regularly playing this weekend, and I have made it a point to make a big deal about this game. Special meal - usually catered BBQ - inviting bus drivers, admin, custodial staff. It has become an 'event', so attendance is pretty solid.
So, we have a playoff game tonight and we're 50/50 on whether or not we win. If we win, there will of course be a game over Thanksgiving break.
How do you handle it yellow board? Last time this happened, my admin told me to ask for volunteers for a pep band and if we had enough, we would go. (We did not.. 14 flutes and a bass drum does not a pep band make.)
I'm going to talk to my admin again and see if their feelings have changed, but what do you do in your district? If you or your district makes it mandatory, how do you handle kids that don't go? Alternate assignment? Just looking for options.
