Like most music of that era, it's quite thickly scored. You need solid players on all parts throughout the ensemble to make it work. You also need strength from top to bottom - there's lots of independent lines. If your band is "top-heavy" - ie, it has strong first part players, but weaker down the section, it's not a good choice.
Make sure you have a flute soloist, strong brass, and a moderately small percussion and/or mature section, as there's not a ton for them to do.
I've not found a lot of information about this piece...Does anyone have any experience with it?
