Re: How long before you repeat music at UIL?
Some of the pieces on the 5A-6A lists cost $300+, and scores are $35-50 each.
Imagine dropping nearly a thousand dollars for music for UIL, and never using that music again.
First of all, I'm much better at teaching a piece the second time around. Aside from that, I don't like the idea of buying a piece and 3 extra scores and only playing it once. Having said that, I don't repeat entire programs, but there are some pieces I'll pull out every 4-5 years for my kids to work on.
This is my 6th year as the head director at my MS. I was discussing UIL music with my assistant and she brought up a piece I had done my 2nd year at this school. (She did not work here at the time).
I said, "I have done that one here before and I don't like repeating myself." It got me thinking, how long do you go before you repeat music at UIL? I know it eventually is going to happen, I am just wondering how everyone thinks of it.
