As the rules are written, yes, it would.
But to be fair - any band capable of putting any of those pieces on the field is capable of playing virtually anything on the Grade 5 list, and can find another suitable piece.
To pick three suitable pieces by the same composers: Perhaps the Passacaglia and Fugue instead of the Toccata and Fugue,
Savannah River Holiday instead of Rocky Point,
or maybe Dancing on Water instead of Angels - it's amazing.
This season's marching show included something like Rocky Point, or Toccata and Fugue, or Angels in the Architecture, or anything else from the Grade 5 list - would this prevent that band from programming the same piece for Honor Band?
I know we can't work on the music before December 1, but can the students have the music before then? Can they listen to recordings on their own? Or should I keep it a secret as to what we will be looking at?
