Here's what I did during my first job that I hated. I resigned in January, couldn't stand the other director I was working with, to the point that I really thought about getting out of this business. (I didn't because of a mentor band director who basically saved my career)
Find something to do after school that you enjoy, a hobby, friends, or personal growth. That way you can take your mind off of your job and develop a positive mindset. For me I enjoy working out, reading personal growth books, hanging with friends/family and drinking some dang good beer.
Find a mentor to help you through this time. Band directors are in your area who have gone through this same thing and are willing to help you.
A band director
I hate my job. HATE IT! Every single thing about it. I hate my admin, hate my ineffective FAD, hate the counselors, hate one of my coworkers (the other one is whatever), hate the school culture and I hate coming to work everyday.
It makes me physically ill. I cry on my way to work at least 3 times a week. I find zero joy in the day to day. It's effecting me outside of work since I'm always tired. My husband says all I do is complain about work.
We have decided that no matter what, I will not return after this school year. I really just want to turn in my resignation but I know people will start treating me poorly but I also want them to know how much they have killed my spirit.
Has anyone turned in a resignation early in the year just because. I have no future job prospects. But emotionally I can't be here again.
