Yep, was treated like dirt for many, but not all, years when I taught. Ratings didn't matter, getting numbers up didn't matter, trying to go the extra mile and be a team player didn't matter. i dealt with incompetent bullies who kissed their way up the administrative ladder. When I finally was able to retire, I had no regrets. I only missed the kids and the actual teaching so after a few years out, I came back. Now that I'm back I refuse to put up with B.S. from anyone. Admin. was going to try and pull a fast one with some classes a few days before school started and I flat told them that if they did that I would hand them the keys right now, this second and they could start looking for a new band director (first football game was in 6 days). Funny how quickly they "solved the problem" and how nice and pleasant they were to me. I think public schools need to be overhauled and I think it needs to start with administrators and supervisors. There needs to be more rights for teachers and how we are treated. The way things are now, there will be a teacher shortage in 10 years or less. Or at least a shortage of GOOD teachers. All that will be left are over paid babysitters. Oh, and administrators.
