Even though I am not teaching band this year,I still go over and make certain the visiting band knows where they are sitting,where the restrooms are and how much time they have on the field.It does not bother me because I am on the away side several times a game anyway.But I agree that a simple message sent over prior to the start of the game asking the other group if they are performing would have solved the problem.

So I've been doing this HS job for about 8 years. While I always go to the visitor stands when its a home game and almost always go visit home band on away games, I've never once had the home band director come to me.
Hell, I don't even get the phone call when we're visiting any more even though I call every week for home games.
Is this an old person tradition that my 31-year-old self is the only one still doing?
Although I will say a couple of times a state marching champion program provided Gatorade drinks for the band when we visited them. But that band and director are class acts all the way.
