Re: How does compensation work when a director writes the marching band show?
I always preferred to write my own drills because then I could amend it as needed. I could also teach what I wrote much better than something someone else wrote.
Let's say you're a band director and you decide to arrange the music for your marching show that year. Do you get compensated for it, or is that just part of the job? Same with writing drill, percussion books, or even colorguard choreography. Curious what everyone's input is. If we pay someone extra to come in and do that, would it make sense if we did it in house to pay whoever did it in house, or is this breaking laws somewhere?
