Lol Jesus. Itís not hazing. Late to practice? Lap, missing equipment? Lap. Rules are rules. My drum majors help me enforce them.
What was your response to students assigning punishments? I always let people know that it is considered hazing, and against the law.
The real answer that you probably shouldn't say is you're the band director, you make policy decisions...the boosters support you. They need to worry about their job, not yours.
I don't know the rest of your situation...when you came in, how long the previous directors were there, what you changed or how you do things differently. But now that contest time is over, and you have at least one more halftime (more if you're playoff bound). I would use this as an opportunity to build a bigger bond with your juniors and try to get them on the same page as you. Transitions or always hard, some are harder...but build the bridges and let them cross them to you.
