Your opinion and choice. If you feel that the best place to spend money for your program is on consortiums then by all means do it, but donít tell others how they should spend money on theirs or what their budgeting priorities should be.
Why is this such a stupid idea?
There are many professional sports organizations that have salary caps and limits on how much teams can spend. Also, the NCAA limits the number of full-ride scholarships given to college athletes.
I feel that this idea is something to think about. However, when you get out of UIL and bands competing in BOA or USBANDS there would be no need to enforce this rule because those organizations do not care how much money is spent on 8 minutes of music.
I always find it funny that band directors are willing to spend so much money on a marching show but are not willing to go in with commission consortiums for new music, or willing to spend money to play freshly composed pieces in the concert season.
