With such a large percentage of BOA scoring based upon the design, and a limited supply of top-level designers, low supply and high demand have really inflated the price of championship caliber designs. With wind arrangers charging over 10 K, Drill writers charging over 20 K, Percussion arrangers charging over 6 K, and electronics designers (how is that a thing now?) charging over 3 K, it is easy to see to effect that money can have on competition.
Yes, money is not everything. But it definitely matters.
