Re: Great bands at Area that didnít make state...name your favorites!
Maybe in 3A but not in my classification.
My Area has the best bands, no my area is the toughest. This goes on every year. Shoot, I once had a director argue with me in person about Area A. Funny thing, a band from Area D actually won the state marching contest in that classification. Here's another story involving my band, this time. One year, when the yellowboard lit up about which band in a classification would make it to state, everybody dogged piled on and said it would be school X and no other band would even be in the running. No one even mentioned my band. Well, my band not only placed higher than school X, but school X didn't even make it past Area and my band did and made the finals at state. I guess all these predictions and this thread about the also rans is fun. But it all sums up to coulda, woulda, shoulda. Area is over, the bands for state have been certified. We should probably just sit back and enjoy the contest and support the results and accept the outcome.
They were great. But area c is one of, if not the toughest, area in the state regardless of classifications. I believe the judges got the top 5 right. Maybe not in the right order but the right 5 are going on to state.
As far as the rest of the rankings, I'll leave that alone. Some GREAT bands didn't even advance to finals in that area.
Area C more than likely will have the state champion again this year.
