But seriously, Iím assistant #1 and I wear the band shirt and jeans. Iíve watched one of the best bands in the state go to contest in baseball tís and jeans and clean everyonesís clocks; how you look is your own vanity or sense of propriety. I am in charge of loading/unloading, drum line, front ensemble, audio, props, student volunteers, and parent volunteers. From the moment the busses hit the lot Iím lifting, moving, fixing, crawling, and supervising, so I dress durably and comfortably. When I become a head director, staff uniform will be staff polos and jeans/slacks as each individualsí responsibilities dictate.
The bottom line is what gets your job done. Suits are for those who have others to do the dirty work (and thatís not necessarily bad, itís just your situation).
