Re: What do you wear to UIL marching contest?
Going to get a lot of opinions on this, I have worn jeans before but it was area finals and it was 34 degrees and I was driving the bus. Kids knew the importance of the moment. However you can not go wrong with a suit. I think the thing with all these comments will be do what you think is best for your kids, if a suit will focus them and they need all the focus they can get then go suit every time. If it is hot, you are unloading trucks, and putting together props then wear something more comfortable.
At the end of the day you do what makes you and your students be the best they can be.
Iím old school! I think a suit shows respect for the activity and shows professionalism. You want the students to be performing at their best then I, as the director, should show my best.
I could go with khakis and a staff polo if the weather was bad or, like mentioned, you have to drive the bus.
Jeans are absolutely out of the question for me. They are far too casual for UIL. No one in our region wears them. I donít feel right being so casual when the students are in their uniforms and the vibe is different from a football game.
I understand that this is my opinion and everyone can have theirs. Nonetheless, good luck to everyone at UIL!
