Re: Beginner Clarinets/Saxes....HELP!
Not something easily diagnosed by reading about it. Suggestion - Have saxes and clarinets use vandoren 2 1/2 reeds.
I am having some trouble adjusting the tones of beginner clarinets. Barrel/mouthpiece sound is good but once full clarinet is assembled and we play an open G, tone is airy, fuzzy, and weak. Hand position is not clicking for some. Any advice? I use the Essential method book. I don't want to move on if the first few notes have a bad tone. I'm a brass player....HELP!
My saxes have improved on their tones. We have learned the first five notes (octave D down to G). Once Essential removes the note names starting around line 12, they are not able to recognize the notes on the staff despite us reviewing note names daily. Any other advice??
Maybe I need to be more patient and know that eventually it will click. But ain't nobody have that time!! We have to move on. LOL. Suggestions appreciated!!
