It's pretty simple, and it's not that hard, and currently, our kids seem to be having a lot of fun doing it. Here's what you need to know.
You can play pre-game, though it seems most volleyball teams have workout music. We play the fight song as they come on to the court, and then they play their work out music (for like 10-15 minutes). Then the national anthem (which we play or someone sings)..
During the game, you cannot play during play. At all. Not even after a point, before the next serve. YOU CAN ONLY PLAY ON TIMEOUTS. They are a minute long, and usually without warning. Have a song cued up so when the time out starts, you can just start playing. And we don't always start at the beginning, because most time outs get cut short when both teams are ready on the court. There's usually a buzzer to let you know time out is over and my kids are trained to stop on the buzzer no matter what.
Sets go to 25 points (must win by 2). There's about 4 or 5 minutes in between sets, you can play the whole time. We always keep a song and a cadence ready for the end of the sets. Then a fight song tag.
By the way, last Friday our parents were working concessions and we were short handed at halftime, the volleyball team came out and helped push our pit on to the field! They're also all going to region marching contest Saturday! It's been a great PR event for our program!
