Re: Marching handicap
we as judges can tell when a student has an obvious physical disability that compromises a student's marching stride. We do not hold this against the band and certainly NOT the student. I think it's a good thing to include as many students as possible.
I have a euphonium player with cerebral palsy. He has played in the front ensemble for 2 years but has expressed a desire to march next year. His condition causes his left foot to point toe down. He cannot put his heel on the ground with that foot. What should I do? I would like for him to be able to perform but am not sure he will be able to keep up.
Anyone with a similar situation and how did you handle it?
