Not one bit, if you do well. What’s your goal/end game though? If it’s just to teach the kids you have to be the best they can, it shouldn’t matter. Just be ready to advocate like hell in one of those districts.
If you want to be a social media, “look at our Region numbers” poster type director...then no, I probably would avoid a Dallas or Ft. Worth. You most likely won’t win Honor Band there.
Been thinking about this lately. Is it a “career killer” to have an urban district (Dallas, Fort Worth etc.) on your resume? Even if you’re successful with sweeps at UIL and various other contests and have good numbers, culture and such? I’m currently at a Title I suburb district and enjoy teaching low SES kids and have been successful as an assistant and have been playing with the idea of possible moving to a head job at a urban district or low SES district in the future. Would that be a career killer for other opportunities in the long run? Thanks for any input and opinions!
