Re: new uniforms over a month late on delivery
It depends greatly on when you order. You get your crap together and get things ordered in March, no problems. You wait until May, their delivery schedule gets longer and every little delay stacks up.
Or, like I had happen once, you get your crap together and get everything done by March, but the board doesn't approve the contract until May. Then you get nasty phone calls from your uniform rep about the threats the sup is making to cancel the order when you don't have your uniforms until October, when they are trying to hold to the delivery schedule in the original contract (150 days) even though it was the local board's fault that the clock didn't start until mid May.
How many of you have followed procedure when ordering new uniforms from one of the big, BIGGIE uniform companies only to have them deliver nearly 2 months late?
Our "worst case scenario" delivery date was 9/15. Just got off the phone with a head honcho and the most specific answer I could get on when these will arrive was "before November".
Is this super common for companies to promise a delivery date and then miss it? Its the first time I've ever been able to order new ones, so I've never been through this process before.
We are, however, effectively handicapped for this season. Because we literally don't have enough of the old uniforms (which is why we ordered new ones), we'll have the winds fully outfitted and then battery, sousas and front ensemble will have to wear the bibbers and our dry fit shirts and thats it.
Multiple contests costing us lots of money are happening. Don't you agree this half-uniformed situation will hold us back when scores are tallied?
We have significant plume visuals in the show but our old uniforms have Aussie-style hats. The new ones are Shakos which is why we wrote in the visuals, but we don't even have plumes for the aussie hats at all.
Pretty furious that this is impacting our kids and our program.
