The Waterman Edson “Diamond Black” pens with platinum plated caps were the last of the Edson colours, released in 2007, and one of the rarest. I bought this ballpoint pen new from a French Waterman dealer in December 2007. The pen is mint, never used, complete with all the boxes, documents and spare Waterman ballpoint cartridge. (The blue Waterman Edson case has crazing on the lid which seems to be the norm for these Edson cases.)
The pen has Waterman engraved on the cap band and “France” on one the side of the clip and a serial number on the other, “000589”.

The Edson is generally recognised by collectors to be the finest modern Waterman pen. Introduced in 1992 and named to honour the founder of Waterman, it was discontinued in December 2015, since when prices have increased. The first Edson model released in 1992 was the blue and gold pen, followed by green and ruby pens in the 1990s. The black and platinum pens were the final model before production ceased in 2015.
