A Parker Falcon (Model 50) flighter pen in brushed steel with gold plated clip, converter and a broad nib.
The Falcon was designed after the model T1, which was withdrawn after only a year when it proved to be too costly to make in titanium. The Falcon was made of steel and with a simpler nib design, both lower cost to make and more rugged in use. Launched in 1978 with the integrated barrel and nib of the T1, it was a very successful design but non-the-less a short-lived model, withdrawn by 1982. At launch the Flighter was $25, a price which was increased to $30 after a year of good sales.
This Falcon pen was made in the USA (cap imprint) and looks to be an early model judging by the converter, which is based on the Parker 51 Special and 21 filler but designed as a converter rather than the fixed aerometric filler of these earlier models. (The pen can also be used with later Parker converters.) The nib has a big ball of tipped and is an exceptionally smooth writer. The pen has some marks of use including where the cap has been posted but is in good condition and a very nice writer.
