A beautiful solid gold, 9ct Waterman C/F fountain pen from around 1970 in a lined pattern with blank indicia.
The pen has a very smooth fine 18k nib and is fitted with a new CF converter. It is in excellent condition with just the usual minor marks of use and comes with the box.
The C/F was probably Waterman’s most successful fountain pen in the postwar era. Designed by Harley J Earl associates who headed design at General Motors in the post-war era of the Corvette and rocket-inspired tailfins, the pen was launched in 1957 and introduced the modern cartridge/converter filler as well as a striking new look. Made for about 30 years in a range which eventually embraced plastic student pens, silver and gold plated pens and solid gold pens in beautiful patterns. The solid gold pens are now quite difficult to find. The CF has to be one of the most elegant modern pen designs with its black lacquer inlay in the section and inset nib.
