For sale, for the serious Pelikan collector, is a very rare pre-100 with a heart hole nib. The nib is a 14 Karat Fine. The pen which was purchased from a European auction house had been restored at some point. It is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. I assume the pen was part of an estate sale so I do not have any history to offer other than it was well cared for.
The pen has its super rare heart hole nib, its correct 3 flange feed with half flange in the middle. The nib has some minor discolouration at its tip. The pen has a correct one piece bakelite section and barrel and correct black hard rubber cap with two breather holes. The cap is showing some minor brown patina but appears black. The clip and rings are perfect and do not show any brassing but the Pelikan logo on the top of the cap is quite faded.
The beautiful and also quite rare marble bind which did not appear on Pelikans until 1931 is in perfect condition. The piston operates smoothly and takes up and expels ink as it should. At some point the turning knob collar was updated, I assume when restored as it stamped 07 which would denote a later collar and also an oblique medium nib. The nib on this pen writes a fine line and is without flex.
