A Mabie, Todd & Bard Swan gold filled eye-dropper whose notable feature is its very broad No. 3 nib, a real “paintbrush” of a nib and very expressive. The nib imprint is “Mabie Todd & Co, New York 3”. I think the nib is a later replacement.


The barrel imprint is crisp:
“The Swan Pen
PAT. FEB 8.81. FEB, 21. 82. MAR. 6. 88
MABIE, TODD & BARD. NEW York”

The pen is 13.4cm closed and 16.1cm with the cap posted.
The barrel and cap are in good condition with very crisp maker imprint and just a little brassing at the top of the cap and bottom of the barrel. There is some corrosion of the gold-filled part of the section next to the nib, presumably the result of long exposure to inks.
The pen has a nice “Swan” box; I do not know if it is original to the pen but it looks good. It has what appears to be an added jeweller sticker (French?).
