A first year Pilot Murex MR stainless steel fountain pen, dated 1977, and complete with boxes and documents.

The Murex MR – MY Rex (King) was a full-size version of the 1971 MYU pen, redesigned with a textured section, and a spring-loaded chrome clip. The MR is 13.3cm closed where the original MUY is 11.9cm. The MR was priced at 5000 yen where the original MY was 3500 yen. Both pens were designed to be sold only in Japan. The MYU pens are now icons of Japanese pen design, an elegant minimalist design inspired by the quill pen. They were made for about a decade and in 2008 Pilot produced a limited edition tribute, the M90, since sold out.

The barrel has the manufacturing date imprint for 10/’77 and the nib grade F. The pen is a converter/cartridge filler.

Condition: The pen is in good condition, complete with the converter and the case, outer card box, instructions and an ink cartridge. The stainless steel cap and body is in excellent condition, the main signs of use are nicks in the sprung chrome clip.
